BAROSSA INFRASTRUCTURE LTD (BIL)

“To provide a high quality water supply in the Barossa which, when applied in environmentally and viticulturally appropriate quantities, sustains crop yield and quality through dry periods at a cost that is lower than other quality water sources.”

Additional Water for Irrigation in Barossa

At the request of shareholders, BIL continues to investigate options to bring additional water into the Barossa.
Highly treated wastewater from Bolivar is one option (but not the only option) being considered.
KBR’s lengthy Detailed Business Case has been publicly released by the State Government.  BIL’s summary of that document is here.
The focus of investigations has recently changed – BIL is now playing a central role; investigations are looking at whether BIL can be disconnected from the River Murray and instead supplied from Bolivar only; and whether an irrigation/stock water supply to Eden Valley can be created in the short term.

BIL’s October 2020 seven Principles of Engagement continue to guide BIL and those we discuss options with.

BIL is engaging frequently with State and Federal members of Parliament, DEW, BA, SA Water and other appropriate organisations.

Expression of Interest for More Water

New customers or existing customers seeking more water are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest so we are able to plan appropriately. This is non-binding on customers and BIL.

If you are new to the scheme, please familiarise yourself with BIL and in particular the typical costs associated with being a customer via this Information Sheet.
To discuss additional water or an expression of interest, contact Simon Schutz, BIL’s General Manager, on Simon@BIL.net.au or 0403 743 199.
